Located in Aÿ, the Maison Edouard Brun bears the name of its founder who created it in 1898. Today, this small producer produces Grands and Premiers Crus on the Montagne de Reims, in Aÿ and Mareuil. Philippe and Emmanuel Delescot having taken over the reins of the company, this house does not fail to surprise consumers with the quality of its cuvées. Small producer Champagnes that have won numerous awards!
Born into a family of coopers, Edouard Brun and a few friends set up a Champagne house as a limited partnership in 1898. Edmond Lefèvre, the son of winegrowers and with the experience he had acquired in the cellars of a renowned house in Aÿ, joined the company in 1927. After the death of Mr Brun, he converted the structure into a limited company in 1960. Eight years later, he retired to leave the management to his children, Mr and Mrs Delescot Lefèvre.
Today, their sons Philippe and Emmanuel are at the head of this house, which manages the family vineyard of more than 8 hectares. A small Champagne producer, this establishment cultivates its vines in the Montagne de Reims, in the communes of Chigny-les-Roses, Rilly and Ludes, villages classified as Premier Cru. Edouard Brun also owns a few hectares of Grand Cru in Aÿ and in Mareuil. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier: In addition to its own grapes, this Champagne house is supplied by the family's fellow winegrowers who also cultivate the three characteristic grape varieties of Champagne.
This small family-run Champagne house vinifies its grapes in its own cellars. After bottling, the different vintages are aged for several years in the house's cellars, which are several hundred years old. These cellars ensure that the Champagne is aged at a constant temperature.
Edouard Brun Champagne house is renowned for its Champagnes characterised by their consistent quality. This characteristic is the result of the meticulous blending of the grape varieties and vintages of the Champagne region during the elaboration of the different cuvées, thus respecting the Champagne tradition. All the sparkling wines produced here undergo malolactic fermentation, some of which is carried out in old barrels and tuns, which enhances the grape variety without marking the cuvées.
Edouard Brun Champagne house proposes different cuvées, including Grands Crus, Premiers Crus and Classic Champagnes:
It is not always the big houses that receive praise from the specialist press. Although it is a small Champagne producer, the Maison Edouard Brun is also recognised for the quality of its Champagnes. They perfectly reflect the terroir, but also the know-how of the producers. Thus, various vintages from this domain have been noticed and quoted in the press. Moreover, some of its Champagnes have received awards, in particular the Cuvée Blanc de Blancs which was awarded two stars by the Guide Hachette 2018. Similarly, the Cuvée Brut Nature was awarded a bronze medal at the International Wine Challenge in 2015. Furthermore, the Reserve Premier Cru Brut NV received the same medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards in the same year. Cuvées with a remarkable quality/price ratio that our experts do not fail to propose.
