The history of the vine in the Languedoc-Roussillon region goes back two millennia to the Roman presence. It has been present at all stages of local history, with varying degrees of importance. Later, Lord Cabaret de Lauran defended the region during the Albigensian crusade. Capitelles, Roman tombs and medieval towers bear witness to the richness of the historical heritage. Winegrowing remains the main activity of the region. In the heart of the Languedoc wine region, the Lauran Cabaret Cellar is one of the main producers of the Minervois appellation. The winegrowers have pooled their resources to develop a cellar that is at the cutting edge of progress in terms of equipment: this technicality ensures results that are constantly improving. Selection at all levels is an essential element in the search for quality. The production area, made up of uneven clay-limestone and schist slopes, allows for low yields. Thus, the wines have a very typical qualitative and aromatic profile. In terms of quality, several criteria have been defined: - The search for the best match between grape variety and soil, - The selection of plots with low yields or old vines, - The mastery of cultivation techniques as well as the use of the latest equipment in wine making, allow to optimise the level of quality. Tradition and respect for it are the guarantee, for you, of authentic wines that are representative of the terroir and of the efforts.
