A family-run winery whose origins date back to the 18th century, Bortolomiol bears the name of the forefather who planted the first vines on the hills of Valdobbiadene, in the province of Treviso in Veneto. Now listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, this sublime, unspoilt terroir (only part of which is covered in vineyards) is still home to the family’s winery and land. At the heart of the small, prestigious Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG area (defined by its hilly terroirs and ancient tradition, particularly in the Cartizze sector) and the wider Prosecco DOC appellation, the vineyards are now managed by three of Ottavia and Giuliano Bortolomiol’s four daughters: Maria Elena, Elvira and Giuliana. A fervent champion of a unique expertise, trained at the Conegliano School of Oenology, Giuliano worked to rebuild the vineyards after the war and to make this sparkling white wine , which had humble origins, accessible to all. Following in the footsteps of this pioneer, the energetic trio respectfully preserves his legacy, whilst infusing the Bortolomiol estate with a touch of modernity and femininity. The estate, which is certified organic , reflects their commitment: human, sustainable and responsible. As for their extensive and varied range of sparkling wines – including vintage, premium and traditional Prosecco, as well as regional Spumante and Frizzante, complemented by a selection of still wines – it continues to showcase the very best of eastern Veneto’s wine-growing region, which has won over the whole world with its festive and accessible bubbles.
