César Márquez Pérez is one of the promising young talents of El Bierzo. He grew up working with his uncle, the renowned winemaker Raúl Pérez. Since 2015, he has been making and ageing wines in his own cellar in Valtuille de Abajo, in the Bierzo region. César Márquez has quickly become one of the most interesting producers on the current wine scene in El Bierzo. César's project follows a Burgundian hierarchy, which is why he produces a regional red wine that reflects the identity of El Bierzo and seeks to capture the typical characteristics of Valtuille, a white wine made from century-old Godello vines, and four plots on the Valtuille estate. Most of the vines are old, co-planted with different grape varieties, with different orientations and soils where slate and clay predominate. During production, the wines ferment spontaneously in wooden vats with a high proportion of stems and long maceration periods. César's aim is to convey a detailed idea of the identity of El Bierzo, particularly Valtuille. These are balanced and authentic wines, faithful to their origins, which bear witness to César's winemaking expertise.
