Based in the small village of Provaglio d’Iseo, on the shores of the lake of the same name, Barone Pizzini is one of the historic houses of the Franciacorta DOCG. Founded in the 1970s by Baron Pizzini in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy, it originally supported the development of one of Italy ’s first golf courses. A pioneering figure within the prestigious DOCG, synonymous with Italian passion and excellence in sparkling wine , Barone Pizzini was the first estate in Franciacorta to be certified as organic (as early as 1998), redefining the relationship between the vineyards, people and the environment. Deeply attached to the land and local traditions, whose winemaking origins date back to ancient times, the successor to the Pizzini family, Silvano Brescianini, makes the sustainability of the vineyard plots (around 30 covering approximately 60 hectares) a priority. In the same vein, he has revived Erbamat, a forgotten indigenous grape variety … It is now the only variety authorised for use in Franciacorta blends, alongside the international varieties Pinot and Chardonnay. This is a strong commitment, reflecting both the past and future history of Barone Pizzini, a producer regularly recognised by critics (its latest wine, 100% vegan, is fully in keeping with this philosophy).
