Established in the late 1980s above the town of Sambuca Val di Pesa, just 3 kilometres from Tenuta Tignanello, Badia a Passignano reflects the strong and long-standing bond that unites the Antinori family with the Chianti Classico region (founded in Florence in 1385, Marchese Antinori embodies the history of wine in Italy ). Planted mainly with Sangiovese, the 65 hectares of vineyards stretch around Passignano Abbey, which has stood for over 1,000 years. The eponymous Badia a Passignano wine, aged in Hungarian oak barrels in the monastery’s medieval cellars, pays tribute to the estate’s thousand-year history of winemaking.
