Close to the pretty medieval town of Saint-Émilion in Libourne, the appellation is bordered to the south by Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion and to the west by Montagne-Saint-Émilion. There are three growing areas in this hilly landscape which are grouped together under this "Saint-Émilion satellite" term. A vineyard that echoes the trilogy of plateau, hillside and low-lying slopes and gives the wine its capacity for ageing (to be drunk younger if the wine comes from the northern plateaus). The hillside wines are of particular interest. Robust and full-bodied, you really have to wait two years to appreciate them.
From its 1,400 hectares, Lussac-Saint-Émilion produces only red wine mainly from Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon. The first of these is the grape that is favoured in the blends. Vines rub shoulders with small hamlets, groves and Gallo-Roman ruins which are delightful to visit.

The best vintages of hillside wines are of real interest, being very fine. Elegant and full-bodied, they are gourmet wines. Ruby red in colour, Lussac-Saint-Émilion cuvées develop a nose typified by Merlot (red and black fruit aromas). An aromatic palette completed by notes of pepper, undergrowth, prune and animal notes of leather. When blended, Merlot brings refined elegance and aromatic complexity but above all it defines the colour and brings a good alcoholic richness. Cabernet Franc confers a well marked tannic structure and gives its slightly spicy notes, while Cabernet Sauvignon reinforces the aptitude for ageing. On the palate, it is elegant and full-bodied despite its powerful tannins and develops jammy notes that improve with age.
Serving temperature: 16 to 18°C.
