Griotte-Chambertin AOC
Located in the centre of the Grands Crus of Gevrey, between Charmes and Chapelle-Chambertin, below the famous Clos de Bèze, the Grand Cru Griotte-Chambertin covers about 2.7 hectares divided between 7 owners. Its name does not come from its aromas but from the Burgundian word "cras", or "criot", which refers to very stony soils. The vineyard is characterised by a thin soil on limestone slabs and benefits from an exposure towards the east. It is the smallest of the nine Grands Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin. This dark ruby wine, made from Pinot Noir, has great finesse and remarkable power. Its aromas are reminiscent of raspberry, blackcurrant, redcurrant, rose, violet as well as liquorice and spices. It is one of those legendary, rare and exceptional wines.
