Iconic producer of top-class Chablis since 1959, Domaine William Fèvre is producing exceptional wines with great aromatic purity and mineral profile!
In 1959, William Fèvre's son harvested the first grapes at Domaine de la Maladière, which he had just founded. Building on his father's excellent reputation, he continued in the same vein, championing the historic terroirs. With William Fèvre, each parcel is cultivated with the skill and care needed to produce Chablis wines whose personality reflects the authenticity of the terroirs from which they come.
Today, and since 1998, a very old Champagne family has taken over, perpetuating the same motto: Authenticity and indisputable quality of the wines, and above all an increased loyalty to the terroirs, despite a personal approach to Chardonnay.
The Domaine William Fèvre benefits from an exceptional terroir. The soils are a blend of marl and clayey limestone, and the subsoils are rich in minerals and oyster fossils, giving Chablis wines their mineral character.
These ideal soils for growing Chardonnay give the estate an outstanding heritage, with some of the finest plots in the Chablis vineyards. From the 48 hectares of vines, more than half are Premiers Crus.
But we mustn't forget the importance of the winegrowers' know-how, which is essential to extracting the full potential of this terroir. Everything possible is done, whatever the level of appellation: manual harvesting in small crates, strict sorting of bunches, short pressings, balance between vats and barrels depending on the vintage.
The result is rich, purely aromatic wines with a distinctive minerality and freshness. The best tribute a winegrower can pay to his land!
