Clairette de Die

Where is it from?

Clairette de Die AOC is located in the southern Rhone Valley. The Diois region is included in the northernmost portion of the southern sub-alpine ranges. It is bordered to the north by the high cliffs of the Vercors and to the west by the Rhodanian depression. This location ensures a sunny climate marked by Mediterranean influences.

Which grape variety does it use?

Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains and Clairette.

Shall we taste?

Appearance: Rather pale colour with light green reflections. The very fine bubbles form a rather persistent mousse.

Nose: Rich, elegant and fine, the fragrance of the Muscat grape is evident. A fine analysis reveals an elegant and fresh aromatic richness: rose, lemon, citrus and honey.

Palate: The first impression is that of biting into a beautiful, ripe Muscat grape, followed by the sparkle. This lightness is associated with a sensation of sweetness, brought by the unfermented sugar that remains in the wine. Incomplete fermentation makes Clairette-de-Die a low alcohol wine (between 7 and 8% vol.), light and elegant.

Serving Temperature: 6-8°C

Ageing potential: To be drunk young, the risk being that its subtle perfumes are replaced by others less flattering.
