Viré-Clessé AOC

Viré-Clessé is a fairly new appellation located in Mâconnais in the southern Burgundy. The climate here is moderate continental and soils have a high proportion of limestone and clay. Only white wine from Chardonnay is produced. The wines are lively and fresh and yet well-rounded. The best examples have a mineral, flinty undertone. The Viré-Clessé wines are well suited for example to poultry, shellfish and sauted vegetables.
