Offering a festival of aromas and flavours, the Sauternes Grand Cru appellation promises a unique tasting experience. It has been seducing wine lovers and collectors of rare wines for several centuries. Behind its golden colour lies centuries-old expertise, a perfect alchemy between nature and human endeavour. This prestigious sweet wine owes its unique character to noble rot, or Botrytis cinerea, a fungus that concentrates sugars and adds complexity to the aromas of Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grapes. These grapes are harvested, berry by berry, when overripe, during successive sorting processes. A phenomenon of condensation, caused by the meeting of the Garonne and Ciron rivers, covering the entire vineyard, promotes the development of noble rot. The result is a wine of exceptional aromatic richness with captivating notes of exotic fruits, citrus fruits, dried and candied fruits, spices and white flowers, supported by great freshness.
The Sauternes Grands Crus Classés, named after the famous 1855 classification for the Paris World Fair, benefit from an optimal location and rigorous production methods. Only a few estates bear this title, attesting to their prestige and impeccable quality.
