The vintage was uniform and balanced. A later budburst, a mild spring and ideal water stress at the time of ripening allowed for an exceptional quantity and quality of fruit. Ripeness and acidity are present in a subtle balance. The Quintessa is a wine of perfect harmony, with deep flavours and great density. Intense aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry and raspberry mingle with savoury notes of sage and thyme; the wine continues to reveal itself over time as notes of dark chocolate, graphite, and fresh tobacco mingle with young red fruit. Precise and dense, the wine shows supple tannins that play with flavours of dark cherry, dark chocolate and crushed stone. The Quintessa has a perfect balance of fresh acidity followed by bright fruit and minerality on the finish that suggests unparalleled ageing potential.
