A FAMILY ESTATE IN THE CÔTES DE GASCOGNE REGION

Domaine Uby is one of the best known wineries in the Gers. For more than a century, the Morel family has been cultivating vines on the hillsides of Gascony. They produce Côtes de Gascogne IGP wines based on experience and know-how that has been passed down from generation to generation. A must for lovers of the South-West France wines!

François Morel is the third generation to head this family estate and has made a significant contribution to the development of the estate. Coming from a long line of winegrowers, he has never ceased to improve the methods of vineyard management and vinification. This is reflected in the consistent quality of the Uby wines, year after year, which are among the most awarded in Côtes de Gascogne.

TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE VITICULTURE

At Domaine Uby, being inspired by nature is the philosophy of the Morel family. The owners have made it their mission to give a human, but also an environmental and sustainable orientation to their vineyard. In order to preserve a protected environment, but also to produce high quality grape varieties, Domaine Uby is certified Viticulture Raisonnée Contrôlée by Veritas for its entire vineyard. In addition, the cereal crops as well as part of the vineyards are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming. This practice allows the estate to diversify its range with organic wines.

In addition, François Morel is constantly perfecting his methods in order to respect the evolution and needs of the vine according to its biological cycle in order to establish a natural balance.

At Domaine Uby, the vineyard covers about a hundred hectares, on soils of tawny sand and boulbènes. Most of the vines are white and made of Colombard, Ugni Blanc, Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

WHY TO CHOOSE THE TURTLE EMBLEM?

Appearing on the labels of the Uby wines and on the front of the winery, the tortoise is the emblem of the estate. This reptile represents the strong commitment of this winery to the environment. Domaine Uby has also signed an agri-environmental contract for the preservation of a natural area around its pond where a protected species in danger of extinction lives and breeds: the last Cistude turtles in Europe.

WINES THAT REFLECT THE GERS ART OF LIVING

Domaine Uby is renowned for its range of wines with unbeatable value for money. This wine estate offers wines that inspire conviviality and embody the values of the region. Whether it's for a picnic or a barbecue, these summer wines are the perfect accompaniment to pleasant moments with family and friends. François Morel expresses his passion and love of the land through these wines that recall the character and authenticity of Gascony.

To satisfy all tastes, Domaine Uby has a wide range of exceptional and authentic wines: Uby, Byo, Tortues and Domus. It also offers wines in 5-litre bag-in-box format under the Cub range. Easy to transport and very user-friendly! Best known for its fruity and fresh white Uby wines, typical of the Côtes de Gascogne IGP, this winery also offers red, rosé and sparkling wines. Domaine Uby has also developed a special edition, the Collection Unique range, including a very aromatic and fruity rosé and white wine.

WHAT ARE THE DRY WHITE WINES OF THE DOMAIN?

At Domaine Uby, white wine lovers are spoiled with quality wines. For those who particularly appreciate dry and semi-dry white wines, there is a wide choice, including the Uby range:

  • N°1 Sauvignon Gros Manseng: this fruity and aromatic wine exhales fresh notes of exotic fruits and white peach. It has a round mouthfeel with lychee flavours and a fresh finish.
  • N°2 Chardonnay Chenin: this dry white wine develops notes of white flowers and fruits such as pear and peach. Combining suppleness, refinement and freshness, the palate expresses itself on a persistent length.
  • N°3 Colombard Sauvignon: lively and aromatic, this wine offers a range of intense aromas marked by notes of citrus and white peach. Fresh and round on the attack, it opens up on a gourmet palate with lemon flavours and finishes with a good length.

And for those who hesitate to choose Uby n°3 or Uby n°4, n°3, with a residual sugar level of 7 g/l, is the driest of the two.

Domaine Uby offers other dry white wines in its other ranges, including:

  • N°21 from the Byo range: this organically grown wine is a blend of Colombard, Ugni Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. It offers a fruity aromatic palette with notes of white peach accompanied by a hint of grapefruit. Round and fresh, the palate finishes with a nice vivacity.
  • Uby Cub: this excellent aperitif wine has a supple and fresh attack with delicate aromas of grapefruit.

WHAT ARE THE ESTATE'S SWEET WINES?

Those who prefer sweet white wines are not left out either. The Morel family's winery offers n°24 Uby Byo Sweet White. Made exclusively from Gros Manseng, this wine is a real concentrate of exotic fruits. It reveals aromas of passion fruit and mango. Full of freshness and smoothness, the palate offers delicious flavours of candied lemon and quince.
