A small family-run estate of high repute, Jasper Hill is located in Heathcote, Victoria, 120 kilometers north-west of Melbourne. Its name refers to the composition of the soils, rich in jasper, black and red quartzite stones typical of the region. Ron Laughton founded the estate some 30 years ago, since joined by his daughter Emily. Father and daughter share the same artisanal vision of wine and viticulture, with a resolutely organic approach: no synthetic products, no irrigation and light tillage. The vines were planted in 1975 for the oldest, in free foot, on hills benefiting from altitude and varied orientations. Low yields, optimum maturity, discreet aging in wood, everything is done to optimize the richness and aromatic character of the Syrah , which is at the origin of most of the estate's vintages. Voluptuous, rich, expressive, the wines of Jasper Hill are among the finest Australian cuvées.
