Located at the foot of the South/ South-West hillside of Saint- Emilion , Château Daugay plunges as far as the eye can see into this terroir with prestigious vines. Like a benevolent lookout protecting the village, the 5.5-hectare property is said to take its name from the jay bird. The name of Daugay goes back more than 500 years, it comes from the presence of the jay, known in patois "Daou gay" on the mounds and slopes thus bearing this name. Watcher of the forest, this bird with variegated plumage watches over his family with its easily recognizable song. Similar to his animal mascot, Daugay watches and observes the horizon, up to the neighboring village. Like the jay, he has a broad vocal range, with "notes" of Merlot , Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon . Like the jay, it also “sings” the wine by perpetuating centuries-old gestures passed down from generation to generation. And like its emblematic bird, it is now spreading its wings towards its future, imbued with modernity and innovation.
