In 1958, Lionel Faivre, a well established winemaker in Algeria, took charge of Caraguilhes with the aim of perpetuating the tradition of the property and making an authentic wine, a mirror of its terroir. Lionel was then a pioneer in the introduction of organic vineyard cultivation by using sustainable organic techniques. His refusal to use chemical fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides was not understood at the time. Almost 30 years later, he completed the evolution of Caraguilhes by adopting an entirely organic production method. In 1998, Lionel, no longer able to manage Caraguilhes, regretfully took the decision to sell his vineyard. He meets Pierre Gabison and a partner and is convinced that their partnership can succeed in carrying on the proud tradition of a production philosophy focused on organic quality, which began 40 years earlier. In 2005, Pierre Gabison, deeply in love with the wines of Caraguilhes and the region, took over the management of Caraguilhes. He then wanted to perpetuate the passion that reigns around the vineyard and the castle. Pierre sums up his line of conduct very simply: to produce an authentic wine of high quality, from healthy vines, which offers a natural expression of the different terroirs of Caraguilhes.
