Château Fombrauge enjoys a prime location, marvellously situated on the first lines of the slopes of Saint-Emilion overlooking the Dordogne Valley and spread across three villages. Château Fombrauge is one of the oldest vintages from Saint-Emilion, dating back to the 16th century. Previously part of the Chartreux monastery in the 18th century and a school for practical viticulture in 1760, this Saint-Emilion Grand Cru owes its name to two families - the Dumas de Fombrauge and Canolles families. After a series of owners, Bernard Magrez acquired Château Fombrauge in 1999 from a Danish wine merchant. Together Bernard Magrez and Michel Rolland created an absolute gem in the rows of vines at Fombrauge and have succeeded in publicising the quality of wine from Château Fombrauge in France as its previous owner exclusively marketed the wines in Scandinavia.
