IMPERIAL GRAN RESERVA 2017 - CVNE

0,75 L Red Wine / Spain / Rioja / Rioja DO / 14 % vol

"There is more substance and finesse than the Reserva. 2016 was a very good vintage, with freshness and balance to develop nicely in the bottle (...) 50,000 bottles produced" R. Parker
Imperial is one of the great names in Spanish winemaking. A true Rioja classic, it was first produced in the 1920s. It is only produced in vintages considered excellent by the estate. The Gran Reserva is distinguished by its power and elegance. The tannins are very fine and the wine is long and tasty. It has notes of wild berries, chocolate, caramel and roasted coffee, all of which are representative of the terroir in which the Rioja Alta vineyards are located.

BODEGAS CVNE

The history of the company begins in this winery located in Haro in the Barrio de la Estación dating from 1879. Near the railway line that for a time reached the inside of the cellar in order to easily transport the wine in barrels and more late in bottle. CVNE controls approximately 545 hectares located in the Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa subzones. The vineyards of Rioja Alta, where the grapes for the wines of this winery come from, are characterized by clayey - limestone, clay - ferrous and alluvial soils and a predominantly Atlantic climate. In this cellar, harmony, tradition, quality and innovation come together. In 1940, Cune was a pioneer with the construction of the first concrete fermentation warehouse in Spain, in the 1980s it was the first non-aggressive vinification warehouse in Spain, that is to say to work only by gravity.
