LEAVE YOUR REVIEWGood expression of the Alsatian Riesling, very fresh and complex nose, citrus notes, a little tropical and a lot of minerality. The palate is very fresh, with very good acidity, a producer to be reckoned with.
The Alsace wine region has a unique combination of major types of soil which form a veritable "kaleidoscope" of geologies. Some of the most interesting soils are pink sandstone, blue shale, limestone, granite, gypsum and volcanic rocks. They are all found in fine vineyards. Julien Schaal thinks that Riesling is perhaps the best grape to translate these characters into wines. In 2011, Olivier Biecher and himself launched a cellar exclusively dedicated to Alsace Grands Crus wines. From Andlau to Thann they found many interesting vineyards which all have a strong individual character. Today, Sophie and Julien Schaal are doing their best to ensure that the vineyards can express all their power in the style of wine they love.
