MINIMALIST 2022 - SULPHUR-FREE - LES JAMELLES

Syrah/Shiraz and Grenache grapes make up this blend and come for the most part from the Coteaux de l'Orb, to the north of Béziers. This high-altitude terroir, where night time is cool, brings a roundness and richness, as well as velvety tannins to its wines. The rest of the grapes come from the foothills of the Montagne Noir, north of Minervois, where the vines are planted on soil that's dominated by limestone. The features of this vintage are that it is made without any sulphite use during the wine making or ageing processes. This requires flawless diligence and quality throughout the process. And it was a successful venture, les Jamelles Minimalist has amazing precision! Dark red in colour with tinges of blue. The nose reveals expressiveness and intensity, with primary aromas of fruit (cherry) but also of black cherry coulis. We can also recognise gentle touches of vanilla and spice - paprika/bacon and grey pepper. The persistence of its scent is very impressive and the palate is fresh, spicy and fruity (fresh cherries), with notes of liquorice and a hint of minerality. The balance between the elegant, well-formed tannins and its freshness is perfect. Making and ageing the wine without sulphites allows the expression of clean, intense fruitiness.
