LEAVE YOUR REVIEWI bought it for my husband who is a lover of peaty whiskies, one of his favourites. I knew I wasn't taking any chances. It's a safe bet.
A very good whisky, it was appreciated by all our guests. Experienced amateurs and novices alike were unanimous. Personally, I find it too dry, I'd be more of a bourbon lover.
Founded in 1830 on the west coast of the Isle of Skye, beside Loch Harport, Talisker is the only distillery on the island to still be active today. Nowadays, the Talisker distillery consists of a small group of buildings nestled near the shore, that covers the seaweed at low tide. There are only a few remains of the original facilities, due to a recent renovation, but mostly due to a fire in 1960. Caused by the leakage of alcohol drops from a faulty valve, on a coal-fired boiler, it completely destroyed the room of stills. It was later rebuilt identically. The single distillery on the Isle of Skye for a long time, Talisker has evolved in isolation. Deprived of the presence of other distillers to turn to if necessary, it could only rely on its own genius.
