"Notes of sage and blackberry dominate this full-bodied, concentrated and richly tannic wine. It opens up beautifully after a short period in the cellar. " R. Parker
The Henschke maison has not finished delighting us with this absolute wonder. Even more solar with a delicious and very expressive nose. The bouquet exhales fragrances of red and black berries edged by a spring floral bouquet and racy minerality. Fleshy and full-bodied, it evolves with grace on the palate, both pure and generous, driven by elegant and silky tannins to a fine, complex and savoury finish. A wine that reminds me of some great wines of Côte-Rotie that will mature and evolve tremendously well over the coming years.

HENSCHKE

Henschke is one of the great names in the country whose history closely mirrors that of the Australian vineyard. Fleeing religious persecution, Johann Christian left his native Silesia and settled in 1861 in Keyneton, in the Eden Valley, an area an hour's drive from Adelaide. The first vine was planted in 1861 and the first wine marketed in 1868. Over the generations, the vineyard has grown and the reputation of the wines has grown with it. Currently, Stephen and Prue Henschke are at the helm of this upscale, family-owned estate which has pioneered the exploration and development of the Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills vineyards in South Australia. Beyond his legendary “Hill of Grace” cuvée, Henschke signs an exemplary range of wines mainly from his own vineyards with remarkably balanced whites and reds that are both deep and elegant, sometimes with a long ageing potential.
