Ultreia Saint Jacques refers to the pilgrims who pass through the vineyards en route to Santiago de Compostela, but it also gives a nod to its French style. It is a hymn to life, a personal tribute by Raúl Pérez to the happiness of walking on this land, and probably the wine with which he identifies best throughout its production. This Mencia vinified in whole bunches is assembled in three parts: one part in new barrels, another part in barrels used by more than 7 wines to create a good well-integrated wood aroma and finally in casks to preserve these beautiful aromas. It is flexible and extremely fine, a wine that demonstrates the potential of this unique grape variety. Only 2,000 bottles produced, a real niche wine at a low price!

RAUL PEREZ (BODEGAS Y VIÑEDOS)

Raúl Pérez is considered one of the greatest winemakers in Spain, and also one of the most prolific, producing over thirty of his own wines in addition to overseeing several renowned estates (Estefania / Tilenus, Castro Ventosa) . He has a discreet personality and it is by humbly stepping aside to let the vine and its terroir express itself that he paradoxically earned his status as a wine super star! From Bierzo to the Rias Baixas, via Ribeira Sacra and Monterrei, he signs artist wines whose reputation extends far beyond the borders of his native Spain. Yet despite all the hype, very few have managed to taste the virtuoso's cuvées, as his wines are often produced only in a few barrels per vintage!
