On a hillside of the Maures mountain range, between Toulon and Hyères, an old 17th century manor house stands, pitiful and dilapidated, surrounded by fields of vines and overlooking the harbour of Toulon. We are here at the Clos Cibonne whose name perpetuates the patronymic of Jean Baptiste de Cibon, captain of the Royal Navy of Louis XVI and former owner of the estate. On his death in 1797, the property was sold to the ancestors of the Roux family. In the 1930's, André Roux was the one who gave the vineyard all the letters of nobility around the Tibouren grape. Since then, his children and grandchildren have continued the tradition. The authentic Tibouren of Le Pradet will travel the world. Today the site has kept all its authenticity and its ancient history around the Tibouren grape. Tibouren is a very noble and demanding grape variety whose grapes only ripen in the privileged places of the Mediterranean coast, such as the schistose and sunny slopes of Clos Cibonne. In the 24 hectare vineyard on the seaside, the Tibouren grape variety predominates in the production of rosés and gives the Clos Cibonne estate its mark and authenticity. Other grape varieties complete the blends such as Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah.
