Opened in Lyon in 1997, Brasserie Ninkasi is a unique concept in France. In the early 1990s, its founders left to train in American micro-breweries, then booming. On their return, they set up a living space in the Gerland district where a French beer factory, bar-restaurant and concert hall coexist. Faced with growing success, they moved to a former dyeing plant in Tartare, a small town on the outskirts of Lyon, where the water was intended to be particularly pure and soft. Since then, Ninkasi has remained one of Lyon's most successful businesses: to this day, there are seven bar-restaurants across Lyon and the Gerland parent company remains one of the city's must-see cultural venues. With a wheat beer voted favorite in the Guide Hachette des Bières, production gradually exceeds the Rhône to make itself known to all the good wine merchants in France.
