LEAVE YOUR REVIEWGreat nose, floral and fruity with slight earthy, mushroomy undertone. The taste and mouthfeel is completely different from what the nose indicated. Very tannic, good acidity. Transitions to an earthy, dirt mid palate. Long bitter, velvety chocolate cocoa finish. Good intro to Bordeaux region wines
Nice balance for this very pleasant Fronsac, in the mouth the aromas of red fruits and the well-coated tannins promise a pleasant wine to enjoy in its youth.
Since 1918, Château Mayne-Vieil has belonged to the Sèze family, who rebuilt the vineyard after the Great War and focused on the production of high quality red wines. Exceptional vineyard of 47 hectares, 32 of which are in the AOC Fronsac area, on a clayey silt hillside with a moderate slope and 15 hectares in the AOC Bordeaux area. The vineyard is grassed. It is thinned out on one side to allow optimal ripening of the grapes. The vineyard is planted with 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc grafted on low vigour rootstock, which is essential for the production of great wines.
