PETRUS 2001

0,75 L Red Wine / France / Bordeaux / Pomerol AOC / 13 % vol

"I don't know of many 2001s that will rival the 2001 Château Petrus." Jeb Dunnuck
A deep purple-red, this magnificent Petrus offers an incredibly complex perfume of black currants, underbrush, white truffles, and spices. On the palate, the wine is beautifully concentrated, opulent, hedonistic, but also elegant with silky tannins, great mid-palate depth and a superb finish. One of the longest wines of the vintage, not to mention one of the most concentrated!

PETRUS

By itself, the name of Petrus is a legend! Throughout the 19th century the estate belonged to the Arnaud family. In 1925, a Libournaise, Ms. Loubat, took shares in the property. Twenty years later, she is the sole owner. Not admitting that Médoc wines sell for more than Pomerols and in particular hers, she does everything to take advantage of such a promising terroir. In a few decades the myth was born. In 1961, Ms. Lacoste and Mr. Lignac, niece and nephew of Mme Loubat, inherited the estate. More recently, Jean-Pierre Moueix, trader and traditional partner of the Château, bought Mr. Lignac's shares and runs the property with Ms. Lacoste.
