The Badenhorst Family Wines estate is a project carried out by cousins Hein and Adi Badenhorst. Since 2008, they have been making their wines in the Swartland appellation, in the heart of the vineyards of the Paardeberg region, north of Cape Town. Although this is a young estate, winemaker Adi has a long career behind him in the wine world. No wonder when you consider that he grew up close to legendary producer Buitenverwachting. He was able to create his first wine there at the age of 13. Adi has this passion for grapes and viticulture in his blood: his grandfather was responsible for the work in the vineyards of Groot Constantia for over 46 years. After studying oenology in Elsenburg, Adi was able to work in great houses such as Château Angélus in Saint-Émilion, Alain Graillot in the Rhône and Wither Hills in New Zealand. His years on the move also brought him to Rustenberg (Stellenbosch in South Africa), where he worked for 9 years as an oenologist. It was then that he decided to found his own estate, Badenhorst Wines.
