VEGA SICILIA - UNICO - RESERVA ESPECIAL EDITION 2022

0,75 L Red Wine / Spain / Castilla y Leon / Ribera del Duero DO / 14,5 % vol

"A full body with round, chewy tannins that are polished and beautiful." James Suckling
Unico Reserva Especial Edition is a multi-vintage cuvée, a blend of the best Unico lots from different vintages. The colour is a deep garnet with beautiful light reflections. Aromatically, the Reserva Especial Edition plunges us into a rare universe where we perceive scents of leather, blond tobacco, cigar also intermingled with more discreet touches of wood and sweet spices. The palate is long, ripe and slender. The mastery of maturation (10 to 13 years in oak barrels) leaves the palate as a spectator of this marvel that we are proud to present on our site.

BODEGAS VEGA SICILIA

For Spain's most famous estate, the story began in 1848, when Toribio Lecanda, a Basque, bought a vast 2000 ha estate near the Douro River from the Marquis de Valbuena. Above all land of cattle and orchards, it became a winegrower in 1864 when his son brought back a few vines from Bordeaux. Wealthy owners will follow one another without anybody making Vega Sicilia a commercial affair: the wine, considered the finest in Spain since the 1920s, first contributed to the prestige of its owner. The Alvarez family acquired it in 1982, and has done everything to reinforce the myth, and you still have to show your credentials to acquire a few precious allocations of the estate's legendary Vega Sicilia Unico.
