Vega Sicilia is not just a great domaine, it is a living legend on the Spanish wine scene!!! A history that began in 1848 and that continues year after year to offer not just excellent Spanish vintages, but prestigious wines. After fermentation, five years of ageing (giving rise to the name of the wine) is required to unleash all its power and its aromatic richness. This second wine of the domaine is characterised by flavours of candied fruit, spice, roasted hints and a remarkable tannic finesse. The purest expression of Tempranillo by the Vega Sicilia domaine.

BODEGAS VEGA SICILIA

For Spain's most famous estate, the story began in 1848, when Toribio Lecanda, a Basque, bought a vast 2000 ha estate near the Douro River from the Marquis de Valbuena. Above all land of cattle and orchards, it became a winegrower in 1864 when his son brought back a few vines from Bordeaux. Wealthy owners will follow one another without anybody making Vega Sicilia a commercial affair: the wine, considered the finest in Spain since the 1920s, first contributed to the prestige of its owner. The Alvarez family acquired it in 1982, and has done everything to reinforce the myth, and you still have to show your credentials to acquire a few precious allocations of the estate's legendary Vega Sicilia Unico.
