Glenelly Estate is located 50 kilometers east of Cape Town, in the heart of the historic Stellenbosch vineyard, an appellation renowned for the quality of its wines since the 17th century. The history of the estate begins with the Huguenot François Villon, who received these lands in 1682, from the governor of Cape Town, Simon van der Stel.
