HILL OF GRACE 2016 - HENSCHKE

0,75 L Red Wine / Australia / Barossa Valley / Eden Valley / 14,5 % vol / 100% Syrah

Biodynamic
The Australian icon, one of the best Syrahs in the world!
"From vines planted in the 1860s, the Hill of Grace Shiraz raises the bar beyond the heights reached by the stellar Mount Edelstone, exceeding it in elegance and (forgive me) grace. It's one of those rare wines that manages to be mouthfilling and voluminous while seeming weightless. Airy notions of mixed spices, woodsmoke and herbs swirl above a mélange of red and black berries and a deep base of black olives and mocha, finishing with enormous silkiness and length." HENSCHKE

Henschke is one of the great names in the country whose history closely mirrors that of the Australian vineyard. Fleeing religious persecution, Johann Christian left his native Silesia and settled in 1861 in Keyneton, in the Eden Valley, an area an hour's drive from Adelaide. The first vine was planted in 1861 and the first wine marketed in 1868. Over the generations, the vineyard has grown and the reputation of the wines has grown with it. Currently, Stephen and Prue Henschke are at the helm of this upscale, family-owned estate which has pioneered the exploration and development of the Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills vineyards in South Australia. Beyond his legendary “Hill of Grace” cuvée, Henschke signs an exemplary range of wines mainly from his own vineyards with remarkably balanced whites and reds that are both deep and elegant, sometimes with a long ageing potential.
