This prestigious château has executed a superb vintage. The Canon-la-Gaffelière vineyard is located on the south coast of Saint-Emilion with an excellent aspect. The vines are over 50 years old and grow in the clay-limestone and sandy-clay soils that characterise this complex, outstanding terroir. Using his expertise, Stephan Von Neipperg has produced a wine from this terroir that has a remarkable structure, and that's consistently elegant and stylish, with great length on the palate. This wine is aged for 16 months in barrels, of which 50% are new. The intense flavours of blackcurrant, stewed blueberry and rose petal blend with the gently spiced oak and the minerality of the terroir. Its originality delivers some remarkable impressions!

CHÂTEAU CANON-LA-GAFFELIERE

Located at the foot of the hill south of the medieval village of Saint-Emilion, the terroir of Château Canon La Gaffelière is made up of clay-limestone and clay-sandy soils, very filtering, particularly receptive to heat. Due to the nature of the soils, the grape varieties have an atypical structure with regard to the appellation, characterized by a perfect balance between Merlot and Cabernet. On this terroir, where maturation takes place very early, the Cabernets flourish remarkably, bringing to the opulence of the Merlot a power and an aromatic complexity which are the basis of the natural elegance and finesse of the wines of Canon La Gaffelière.
