Charles Mortet created his estate in 1956 with a single hectare of vines. In 1978, Denis joined his father with Laurence, his wife. In 1993, he took over from his father and created Domaine Denis Mortet. Established at the time of 4.5 hectares in the municipalities of Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Vougeot, the estate is growing steadily. Currently, the estate has 11.2 hectares. In 2000, Arnaud joined his father. Since 2005, he has managed the estate with his mother Laurence. Among the Mortets, a clear sign, men have always preferred the vineyard path to school path. What good are scholarly studies when everyone, from grandfather Charles to grandson Arnaud, has this innate taste for the earth and this sense of observing a landscape, when everyone is sensitive to the scent of a plant and to the buzzing of an insect? Yes, that is what it is about, their heart that beats for this treasure accumulated over generations: living vines.
