MENGOBA MENCIA ALICANTE BOUSCHET 2019 - BODEGAS Y VIÑEDOS MENGOBA

0,75 L Red Wine / Spain / Castilla y Leon / Bierzo DO / 13,5 % vol

"It's powerful and elegant (...) a very fresh red both affordable and profound, complex but easy to enjoy! " R. Parker
Here is a masterpiece by Grégory Perez, a great Galician wine maker who is a local legend! With this wine from a blend of Mencia and Alicante Bouschet (a Spanish teinturier grape), we find notes of peony and rose, this wine plays immediately on a register of freshness and finesse. Buoyed by its ageing in 5000 litre barrels, the wine unveils pure fruit, very nuanced, little extract, with aromas of fresh mint and strawberry. This is a beautiful wine, extremely precise and complex, to enjoy now or to appreciate even in a few years’ time!

BODEGAS Y VIÑEDOS MENGOBA

Gregory Pérez, the owner of Bodegas y Viñedos Mengoba is a true enthusiast who began his career in 1998 at Château Cos d'Estounel. The plots of this estate extend over the terroirs of Espanillo, Valtuille, Villafranca Du Bierzo and Carracedo, in the heart of Bierzo, in Galicia. The soils are slate, limestone and rocky, and benefit from a mountainous climate with Atlantic influences. Soil work is done in an ancestral and purely artisanal way, using two cows (Guinda and Jardinera), and phytosanitary treatments are naturally reduced thanks to climatic conditions (altitude, ventilated areas, draining land, etc.). The wines of the Bodegas y Viñedos Mengoba estate are sure values of Bierzo wines. Today wine lovers from all over the world are appreciating Grégory wines!
