IMPERIAL RESERVA 2016 - CUNE

0,75 L Red Wine / Spain / Rioja / Rioja DO / 14 % vol

"Fine, precise and powerful. A classic among classics." Robert Parker
Imperial is one of the great names in Spanish wine. It is a true Rioja classic. Its history dates back to 1920, when the first vinification of this wine was made. Cune is only made in the most special vintages and this is again a feat. Its mineral and fruity notes have incensed the critics who have rewarded this wine for both its dynamism and its balance of flavours. Cherry liqueur, dark berries and violet are aromas that are perceptible as soon as the bottle is opened. On the palate, flavours of coffee and sweet spices such as nutmeg will caress your palate to finish on long, mellow and floral notes. To be enjoyed on its own or with a good platter of Iberian hams, Imperial Reserva has some great surprises in store for you!

CUNE

The history of the company begins in this winery located in Haro in the Barrio de la Estación dating from 1879. Near the railway line that for a time reached the inside of the cellar in order to easily transport the wine in barrels and more late in bottle. CVNE controls approximately 545 hectares located in the Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa subzones. The vineyards of Rioja Alta, where the grapes for the wines of this winery come from, are characterized by clayey - limestone, clay - ferrous and alluvial soils and a predominantly Atlantic climate. In this cellar, harmony, tradition, quality and innovation come together. In 1940, Cune was a pioneer with the construction of the first concrete fermentation warehouse in Spain, in the 1980s it was the first non-aggressive vinification warehouse in Spain, that is to say to work only by gravity.
