The coteaux du Layon "1896" 2018, a total discovery! Used to Layon, I tried this bottle (rather high price) we were satisfied with this purchase!
An excellent sweet wine, perfect for an aperitif, foie gras or dessert. A little too sweet for my taste, so share with 4 or 5 people.
Maria Juby and Louis Juby, great-grandparents of Patrick Baudouin, are the founders of this estate in 1920. In 1990, after other professional activities, Patrick Baudouin returned to strengthen the estate on the basis of the small and former family cellar. Today there are 14 hectares of vines in production spread over the beautiful soils of "Anjou noir", that of schists, sandstones and volcanic rocks. Since 1997 the tillage has been resumed with the abandonment of chemical weedkillers. In the cellar, since 1994 no wine has been chaptalised, and the doses of sulphur used limited as much as possible. In 2002, the estate began to convert its vines to organic farming. Any new plot rented or purchased is immediately converted, if it is not organic.
