CHÂTEAUNEUF DU PAPE - CUVEE DE MON AIEUL 2018 - PIERRE USSEGLIO & FILS

0,75 L Red Wine / France / Rhone / Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC / 15,5 % vol / 100% Grenache

Full marks! Jeb Dunnuck: "Depth, richness and dynamism (...) sexier than other vintages, fresher and purer than some (...) and a huge finish (...) sensational and heavenly!"
A splendid wine to keep in the cellar! From three different plots of Grenache (Serres, Crau and Guigasse), this is a demonstrative and very fragrant wine, neither heavy nor aggressive. A minty nose, very complex with aromas of raspberry, liquorice and crushed flowers, which blends perfectly with an elegant palate, beautifully balanced, with silky fruit and caramel hints... Success guaranteed for this great wine from the Rhône valley.

PIERRE USSEGLIO & FILS

Pierre Usseglio, of Italian origin, came to work in Châteauneuf-du-Pape between the two wars. He fell in love with the region and set up on his own in 1948 by taking over 8 hectares. His sons have since taken over and developed the estate to expand it to 24 hectares. They produce frank and gourmet wines from these which can be enjoyed in their youth. The prices of these have remained reasonable given the price surges of the past five years. Their Mon Aïeul cuvée contrasts with the rest of the production.
