Even if it is precisely demarcated behind its walls, you never stop walking around the Clos des Lambrays. One of the 33 Grands Crus of Burgundy. One of his most precious Climates. We invite you for a walk in the heart of Morey-Saint-Denis. It will attach you to its history and its heritage. Take the time to stroll on the calcareous paths that run along the walls. At the bottom of the slope, a few steps from the communal well, a terminal recalls the foundation in 1365. At the top, you reach the emblematic stone portal which gives access to the 202 vines (8.66 hectares) owned by the Estate. In the background, the crest line of the Alps sometimes emerges. Let us contemplate the undulations of the slope. On the meager soil of limestone and clay, the vines grow which give year after year, with the nuances of the vintage, an elegant Pinot Noir, capable of surviving the decades. This is the determination of the Joly families and Rodier, and their descendants, from the 1930s to the 1980s, which allowed Clos des Lambrays to regain the legitimate rank of Grand Cru that history had de facto recognized. And that the amateurs had always granted to it. In 1981 the official status and the unofficial status finally coincide. It took nearly half a century for the National Institute of Appellations of Origin to establish the position of Clos des Lambrays as the 33rd Grand Crus of Burgundy. Since 1979 the favorites and the fate follow one another. The property was embellished in the hands of Messrs Louis and Fabien Saier and Mr. Rolland Pelletier de Chambure, then of the Freund family from 1996, to be finally acquired in 2014 by the LVMH group.
