SPÄTLESE ÜRZIGER WÜRZGARTEN WC 2019 - MARKUS MOLITOR

0,75 L White Wine / Germany / Mosel / Riesling / 11 % vol / 100% Riesling

'Highly elegant and superbly balanced...with an intense and powerful, very mineral and salty finish.' Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
This Spätlese is delicate and discreet, and the aromatic palette is impressive, mixing white-fleshed fruits first off and then a honeyish aspect combined with a luxuriant floral bouquet! The balance is in keeping with Mr Molitor's reputation, and the finish succeeds in taking us aback as it lines up all its aromas, one after the other... It has serious control, a crazy touch and magnificent quality for a thoroughly reasonable price! Just the type of wine that invites you to settle in comfortably, pour yourself a glass and let yourself appreciate the treat while forgetting everything else...

MARKUS MOLITOR

In 1984, when he was just 20 years old, Markus Molitor took over the reins of the family-owned winery, which at the time spanned 7.5 acres. Despite his young age, he cultivated a clearly defined and ambitious vision: to give back to the wines of the Moselle valley their letters of nobility, thanks to the typical Rieslings faithful to the identity of their vineyard of origin (terroir) and to their extraordinary longevity. Meticulous work carried out in the vineyard and cellar - without any compromise - as well as an absolute respect for the grapes and the wine constitute his guidelines. He wants his wines to have structure and depth and that they reveal a beautiful freshness as well as a magnificent radiance, all characteristics typical of the wines of the Moselle valley and which allow them today to appear among the best notes from Robert Parker's guide. These wines are distinguished in 3 categories: White Capsule: dry white, Green Capsule: demi-sec Gold Capsule: sweet.
