EPU 2019 - VINA ALMAVIVA

0,75 L Red Wine / Chile / Central Valley / Puente Alto / 15 % vol

"It's a second wine, but they also want to do something different and Epu is perhaps a little more classical, perhaps this is more Bordeaux and Almaviva is more Chilean." R. Parker
Epu is Almaviva's second wine and like its big brother, it is round and pleasant, nicely balanced between tension and ripeness, density and finesse. The wine has supple and polished tannins. The predominant Cabernet Sauvignon reveals the pure expression of the Puente Alto terroir, with intense, fresh and distinctive blackcurrant and berry fruit. An elegant, harmonious and youthful wine, with lingering notes of vanilla and red berries throughout its long, savoury finish.

VINA ALMAVIVA

In 1997, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and Don Alfonso Larraín President of Concha y Toro, signed a partnership agreement to create a great Franco-Chilean wine called Almaviva. The estate includes a mansion, a bodega and a 50 hectare vineyard bringing together three Bordeaux grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Carménère. This great wine is the fruit of the happy encounter between two cultures: Chile offers its soil, its climate and its vineyard; France brings its know-how and its traditions in wine-making. The name Almaviva belongs to classical French literature: Count Almaviva is the hero of the famous play by Beaumarchais (1732-1799), The Marriage of Figaro, which became an opera by the genius of Mozart. The label bears the name "Almaviva" from Beaumarchais's own handwriting and pays homage to Chile's ancestral history with three reproductions of a symbolic design of the Mapuche civilization.
