CHATEAU COUCHEROY BLANC 2019

0,75 L White Wine / France / Bordeaux / Pessac-Léognan AOC / 13 % vol / 100% Sauvignon blanc

Haute valeur environementale
This affordable white Pessac will amaze you with its balanced structure, between tension and smoothness, and its super-fresh citrus aromas!
"Couchiroy" or "Couche Roi" in the Gascon dialect meaning "King's rest" in English. Legend has it that one stormy night, the future King Henry IV of France, stopped over in this area to rest as he travelled back from the battle of Coutras. He would certainly have enjoyed this smooth, fresh wine and been surprised by its exotic fruit aromas. A wine truly fit for a king! It has a shimmering, pale yellow colour flecked with silver-green highlights. The nose demands breathing before it can fully express itself and release the myriad of citrus notes, from grapefruit to lemon zest - each more delicious than the last. The attack is super smooth. We find a certain roundness and a good volume on the mid-palate. It has a very pleasant freshness throughout the tasting and it offers a good deal of balance. We also find an enjoyable mix of citrus (grapefruit and zest) that combines with a few white fruit notes (peach).

CHATEAU COUCHEROY

Belonging to the André Lurton house, Château Coucheroy is located in the municipalities of Martignac and Léognan, to the south of Bordeaux. The vines, on average 10 to 12 years old and growing on gravel soil with a clay subsoil, are always carefully maintained by André Lurton, an eternally emblematic figure of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, who maintains the essential link between tradition and modernity.
