A powerful, refined vintage symbolic of the potential of its dry, shale-cultivated Chenin wines from Domaine Baudouin!

Le Cornillard is produced from old Chenin vines of between 50 and 70 years old which have been horse-ploughed since 2016. This parcel is very beautiful as it descends to the River Layon, meeting it at one of the most picturesque meanders of the river and with views over the whole valley. It has a south-east exposure. The shale soil comes from the before the primary era. The parcel's stony, arid character is reflected in the mineral, lingering and structured framework. This structure then marries with the complexity of the ripe fruit to make a wine that has length and depth!

DOMAINE BAUDOUIN

Maria Juby and Louis Juby, great-grandparents of Patrick Baudouin, are the founders of this estate in 1920. In 1990, after other professional activities, Patrick Baudouin returned to strengthen the estate on the basis of the small and former family cellar. Today there are 14 hectares of vines in production spread over the beautiful soils of "Anjou noir", that of schists, sandstones and volcanic rocks. Since 1997 the tillage has been resumed with the abandonment of chemical weedkillers. In the cellar, since 1994 no wine has been chaptalised, and the doses of sulphur used limited as much as possible. In 2002, the estate began to convert its vines to organic farming. Any new plot rented or purchased is immediately converted, if it is not organic.
