PIES NEGROS 2019 - BODEGAS Y VIÑEDOS ARTUKE

0,75 L Red Wine / Spain / Rioja / Rioja DO / 14 % vol

This fine and sexy Roja is a favourite of our panel!
The Pies Negros was produced from grapes of the Sierra Cantabria from the village of Ábalos. It is a Tempranillo blend with 15% Graciano, fermented with the entire grape bunch and natural yeast. The wine is then matured in half barrels of 500 litres for 15 months, with the exception of 10% of the volume which is stored in concrete tanks for the same period. The Pies Negros is a wine whose intensity increases in the glass with subtle aromas of wild berries and a rarely elegant style for a Rioja. The palate is very balanced and fresh, with an expression of red fruits, bright flavours and great precision. A lacy and lingering wine. A pure tasting pleasure to be discovered!

ARTUKE

It was in 1991 that Miguel Blanco decided to leave the cooperative to make his own wines. His two sons then join him and it is the contraction of their first names, Arturo and Kike that is at the origin of the name the new bodega. The vineyard is spread over 22 hectares cultivated by Arturo and Kike according to the principles of biodynamics. Recoveries from endangered vineyards (old plots almost forgotten), traditional vinifications (maceration in whole bunches, punching down...) give unique terroir wines which are distinguished by many classic wines from Rioja by their fruit and their finesse. These wines are produced in ultra limited quantities and we are happy to be able to propose you some of these beautiful bottles.
