CHATEAU SMITH HAUT LAFITTE 2005

0,75 L Red Wine / France / Bordeaux / Pessac-Léognan AOC / 13,5 % vol

'[This] Smith Haut-Lafitte is another great success' - Robert Parker -
The couple was able to employ facilities and a winegrowing philosophy inspired by biodynamics, allowing them to create increasingly balanced but no less powerful wines. Today, Smith Haut Lafitte has become an unmissable benchmark for Pessac-Léognan. This Château Smith Haut Lafitte sports a lovely, deep-red colour with glints of dark purple. The complex nose reveals very fresh notes of ripe red fruits (raspberry, cherry), liquorice and spices. On the palate, the wine is balanced, with good concentration. It displays lovely substance and maturity, with a delicate but firm tannic structure. A Pessac-Léognan with solid potential!

CHÂTEAU SMITH HAUT-LAFITTE

After careers as skiers, the Cathiard family bought the Smith Haut Lafitte estate in 1990, a real jewel whose name has been one of the most emblematic of Bordeaux wines for several centuries. Driven by the desire to produce one of the best wines in the world and aware of the richness of their Pessac-Léognan terroir, the owners combine ancestral methods (manual harvesting, compost making, ploughing on horseback, total elimination of herbicides) and new technologies. On these same lands, their daughter Mathilde and her husband Bertrand created the first Vinothérapie® spa and the cosmetics brand Caudalie®.
