The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère and Merlot was first launched in 1982 and immediately won over the wine world. And for good reason, because the quality standards are very high: the wine only arrives on the market if it meets the requirements of the Marquis Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga. Anselmo Guerrieri Gonzaga, the founder's son, continues his father’s work and has been running the estate since 2001. Together with oenologist Carlo Ferrini, he vinifies a 'San Leonardo' which regularly receives excellent marks. The particular microclimate in which the Tenuta San Leonardo estate is located ensures perfect ripeness to the wines. The Lagarina Valley is part of the Etsch Valley, located between the slopes of Monte Baldo and the Lessini Mountains. Although the climate is continental, the winds from nearby Lake Garda warm the valley. These also offer protection against vine diseases, as the hot wind quickly dries the leaves after it rains. The continental climate creates strong temperature differences between day and night, so the grapes can ripen slowly. This brings in intense fruity aromas and creates fresh white wines and elegant red wines for which San Leonardo is so renowned. The wines belong to the greatest in the world.
