JARDINS DE BABYLONE SEC 2016 - DOMAINE DIDIER DAGUENEAU

0,75 L White Wine / France / South West France / Vin de France / 13 % vol / 100% Petit Manseng

The prestigious confidential cuvée, crystalline, intense and of incredible aromatic complexity!
Discovered in Jurançon by Didier Dagueneau, wine artist and formidable researcher, the vineyard covers 3 hectares on terraces, on a terroir renowned for the particular vivacity of the wines produced there. Exclusively planted with Petit Manseng and applying the essential principles of organic and bio-dynamic cultivation, the grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in new oak. Without any AOC or artificial means, except for the ageing which only allows freshness, Louis-Benjamin and Charlotte have brilliantly taken up the challenge of bringing the confidential production of this estate to the highest level, in order to maintain this rare level of excellence. An impressive cuvee, their dry wine is made from half a hectare of the indigenous Petit Manseng grape variety, planted on limestone soils. The nose is powerful, guided by a mineral framework and a very precise breeding. The aromas of citrus, exotic fruit and honey are of great purity, enhanced by remarkably fresh menthol notes. At once totally dry and extremely dense, it offers a streamlined palate reminiscent of the texture and thickness of a Côte de Beaune Grand Cru. The aromatic and taste profile is completely unique, the palate crystalline and vibrant, oscillating between the sweetness of honey and beautiful bitters of lemon and candied fruit. The iodine framework lengthens the finish and enhances the spicy notes. Splendid.

DOMAINE DIDIER DAGUENEAU

Didier Dagueneau was a quality extremist. He was one of the most endearing men of the Loire vineyards as well as a master cultivator. Today, his children have taken up the torch and are worthily ensuring the destiny of this unique estate where Sauvignon is a world benchmark. Everything is done down to the smallest detail to produce the greatest white wines here (including the renowned Blanc Fumé de Pouilly). Worthy heirs to the know-how and convictions of their father, Didier Dagueneau, the brother and sister work in the vineyard, supported by a large team - more than one man per hectare. The attention is daily, the work sometimes superhuman on the soil or biodiversity. At harvest time, the choice of earlier maturity as well as constant attention gives the wines a mineral breath, crystalline purity and a fair balance.
