LEAVE YOUR REVIEWVelvety smooth and easy to drink with soft tannins and lovely juicy dark fruit combined with spice such as black pepper and vanilla on the palate with a good finish that comes as a pleasant surprise after the rather shy nose. Very enjoyable!
Dark ruby color, full bodied, but not too much tannins. Smells ripe fruit, plum, blackberry and spices. On the taste it's smooth, not so tannic, juicy fruits with a bit of vanilla, chocolate and spiciness. Easy to drink red, even without food.
Denis Duveau was the owner of the Domaine des Roches Neuves in the Loire Valley, producing under the Saumur-Champigny appellation before moving to Chile to practice the profession of enologist and market the wines he vinifies under the name of "El Grano". Based in the Curico Valley, the vineyard does honor to the Carmenère grape, typical of Chile in red wine, but also to Chardonnay for the production of white wine, a grape that easily permeates the terroir wherever it is found. Chile having been spared by phylloxera, it is mass selection that has been favored as opposed to selection by cloning: this consists of prospecting the aged plots to select only the strains with an interesting variety of grape varieties. The interest of this operating method is indeed to preserve the initial heritage of the vineyards and therefore to keep the authenticity of the final product, as was still the case in France 150 years ago. A search for authenticity that succeeds for the Duveau family!
