Located in Cruet, in the Bauges mountains, this 18-hectare domaine, managed by the Tiollier family since 1840, has created a range with varying degrees of success. Sylvain Tiollier, an oenologist, is now head of the family business. These steep hills that overlook the southern flank of the Combe de Savoie, in a majestic setting facing the Alps, are exceptionally exposed. The soil of the vineyards is composed of clay-limestone scree. It is reputed to be one of the best Savoy terroirs and especially successful in the Mondeuse varietal. Arbin Mondeuse from the Idylle domaine is a great success. The notes of red fruits wrapped in spices linger on the palate supported by elegant and delicious tannins. A true delicacy!
Mondeuse wines are unfamiliar in the UK and hard to obtain. I last had a bottle in a restaurant overlooking lake Annecy. This wine gives the surprising deep purply colour of the grape, with a lighter fruity aroma and taste than would be expected from its colour. The taste is there but depth is lacki

This Chignon Bergeron from the Jean Perrier et Fils winery reveals white fruit and pear aromas as well as notes of fresh hazelnuts. This cuvée is full of freshness and elegance, for discovering or rediscovering the wines of Savoy! A guaranteed moment of pleasure!
